From time to time
i will put up pups/dogs for co-own
this can be a tricky scenario for some
so as to avoid any confusion/complications
i have set out this legally binding contract which is to be printed out,
signed, and returned to me before
pup/dog will be released to the co-owner.
This is to protect me, you the potential co-owner, and the dog in question.
CO-OWN CONTRACT FOR GRAVEL PITS KENNEL
1. Regardless of pups/dogs gender under no circumstances will the dog be spayed or neutered unless it is detrimental to its health. If this is the case
i need a verified vets statement in writing.
2.The dog shall reside at co-owners residence( please make sure before hand that this is ok with anyone else you may live with and i must speak with them as well
to varify this) and no one elses....this means not your partners,parents,a friends etc...the only time the dog will be anywhere else for a period
of time is when it attends shows, to be bred( if female dog),the vets office, or being kenneled while on vacation.
3.Any time the dog needs medical attention the co-owner is responcible for any vetbills that occur which includes all shots,injuries,c-sections, AI's ear cropping etc.
If anything serious should occur(an emergency),inside or out of the vets office, I the primary owner shall be notified and consulted. I may help you
out but it will depend on the situation, please dont try and take advantage, remember the concern is for the dog and not our greedy purposes.
4a. I the primary owner/breeder of the dog will have sole possession of the dogs paperwork(unless stated otherwise-see additional notes),
when he or she is to be bred/studded, the dog who he or she is to be bred to has to be agreed upon by me the primaray owner
and you the co-owner. If we cannot agree the dog will not be bred that time around and will wait until the next time around.
After pregnancy is confirmed between the agreed upon mated dogs, i will make sure all pups will have their proper paperwork
on hand on or before 8wks of age/or departure date .
4b.Additional Notes: sometimes the co-owned dogs paperwork will be in the possession of the co-owner on a trust basis
( another established kennel with 2 or more viable references),which means both my name and your name will be on the dogs paperwork
and we both must sign any offsprings paperwork in order to validate it. If both parties don't sign the paperwork the pup(s) do not get
registered. If you the co-owner have possession of the paperwork then its your responcibility to get the litter registration to me to be signed
on or before the pups are 3weeks of age in order to have them on hand before sending new puppy owners their puppies paperwork.
I, the primary owner, will have the option of getting a pup back out of any breeding that occurs of the co-owned dog in question( only if the co-owned dog is a female)
. However this does not mean that i will indeed take a pup, it just means that i have that option and will have first choice (along with you the co-owner)
before any other kennel/petowner. If the co-owned female has 2 pups or less, you the co-owner may choose to keep the whole litter or sell the whole litter. I
am not here to take your last dime or pup.
If the co-owned dog is a male then the stud fee that was charged to do the breeding will be either be split between us unless otherwise stated and agreed upon.
Also, sometimes the dog in question will be co-owned with people/kennels for show purposes only. If this is the case then the breeding terms of 4a.do no apply.
5. All breedings done with co-owned dog will be promoted by me the primary owner and you the co-owner via multiple methods of advertising
( personal websites, msn boards, hoobly, etc....) In order to properly advertise/promote please keep updated photos of our dog at least 2 times a year
(every 6 months) and at most 4 times(every 3 months). Photos are the most important tool since most people cannot travel long distance to see your stud/bitch
in person. Since i make breeding banners i can make one for our dog when breedings are confirmed.
6. if an accidental breeding should occur, i am to be notified immediately ( morning, noon or night) to decide of what is to be done. If i find out that
this accidental breeding was in fact not an accident i will not sign the paperwork and will report you to the proper registry.
7. If for some reason you can no longer keep the dog, the dog will be sent back to me the primary owner at the co-owners expense.
Any funds collected if the dog is sold or placed after returning the dog will be split between the original co-owner and me the primary co-owner.
8. The primary concern over everthing else is the dogs health and enviroment; this means absolutely no fighting, no abusive behavior toward the dog/pup,
no neglect ( must have proper shelter from the elements, food+water,and positive mental/physical stimulation everyday),must be fed properly,
enviroment must be clean to avoid any health issues, proper socialization to avoid any tempermental issues, and at least be trained in the basic commands.
Remember you only get out of your dog what you put into it. We as breeders,co-owners, dog showers and pet owners are resprentatives of our breed so
its up to us to make sure we present our dogs/breed in a positive way.
9. If you chose to ignore or disregard any of the co-owning rules the dog can and will be repoed at co-owners expense.
10. remember i am here if you need any advise or have any concerns, the more the communication we have the better the co-ownership.
